Afina tu oído y pronunciación

Video lesson. The full description lives in the linked notes (Resource below).

First ear-training exercise: identify before you produce

This is the first in a series of active-listening exercises. The idea is simple: before trying to pronounce a word, you have to hear it properly. You'll listen to isolated sounds, identify them, and only then repeat them — step by step and without rushing.

What you'll practice

  • 👂 Listen: identify the sound before trying to say it.
  • 🐢 Repeat slowly: slow and exaggerated first, normal speed after.
  • 🎙️ Compare: record yourself and check against the original audio.

Practice with: isolated sounds · short words · the same word repeated several times

⚠️ The typical Spanish-speaker mistake: repeating before you've identified the sound. If your ear can't tell it apart yet, your mouth will only reproduce what you already knew how to say in Spanish.

By the end you'll be able to: recognize isolated English sounds and repeat them with the model in front of you.
